Long time, no bloggy

Hola Bloggettes!

Sozza bout not being on ye ole blog much these days, but as you can understand, life takes over, and translating that into some electronic e-description both long enough and entertaining enough for your reading takes more effort than you would initially imagine.

Aaanyways, really just a wee anouncement that the dance troupe I am in, The Kennedy Cupcakes, are launching their own Blog today, Keeping Up With the Cupcakes. It will give all 8 of us a chance to upload photos, quotes and funny snapshots of our lives as Cupcakes as naturally, we are all absolutely hilarious. Please subscribe.

Off to work I go. Here is a picture of my cat Bruce who is so handsome that he'd win the Cats equivalent of Crufts (does this exist? If so, where do I sign?).

As you were, lovelies!

Christmas time..

Mistletoe and wine etc etc.

The holidays are upon us! And so the putting up of our Christmas tree did occur. Only this year it was different cause we have a cat who is generally scared of most things he hasn't seen before, for example, jackets, various plastic bags, new handbags, other people, but alas not Christmas trees.

Been rather busy so will blog in more detail asap.

As you were,

Walk Walk Fashion Baby...

Hi friends,

Am positively delighted that my new Blog app is working!

As promised, here are some photos of my A/W purchases so far...I'm going through a naze (a navy craze). A mix of high street and vintage keeps things interesting IMO, and I am TOTALLY embracing the fact that it's Autumn.

Firstly, a vintage dress bought at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair this weekend: £15

Next, a hand-made turban from the same fair £12. If anyone sees me wearing it out, please stop and congratulate me, I will be donning a turban, in Scotland. I know, I know, I'm super...

A few Primark purchases next, my two favourites being this patent bag at £8 and curtain print kimono sleeve dress at £13. My naze is in full swing here as you can see:

I am pretty much in love with these right now as they match my camel trench coat quite fantastically. Along with my camel brogues and chain print scarf, I've been wandering around like a model for H&M at the moment, which is actually quite nice :)

I did buy a black lace maxi skirt and am not exactly sure how I am going to work it without looking like I've gone down the Mortitia Adams route, or that I've dyed my granny's old net curtains in the spirit of "shabby chic"...suggestions on a postcard please.

With my nice new purchases hanging proudly in my many wardrobes, I unfortunately will not have the time this week to enjoy them. Workworkwork then some wedding-related activities, followed by a 6am rise on Sunday (yes, that's right, not a typo, SUNDAY) to attend the Zumba training course in Edinburger. I will be in the fine company of fellow Cupcake Julieann, so funtimes are ahead:)

In other news, i secured some faboosh seats for Derren Brown's new show Svengali (oooooohhhh) at the Playhouse in April. Containing my excitement is getting harder by the day!!! If you don't already, please follow @DerrenBrown on Twitter...don't follow him in real life though. I've told you before, it's weird so stop it.

Now that i can blog from my iPhone, will do my best to keep it updated with plenty of goodies.

As you were,

Mimi xxx

Autumn?Winter Fashion- Primark does it again...

Hi friends,

Whoa, what a blustery day! I am official embracing our Autumnal weather and ditching all things remotely summery ATM. Wearing the life out of my low-hell brogues, my man-shirt from H&M and my military jacket (as well as my camel coat) but am looking for a few more winter staples. And just as I was left wanting, Primark comes in and saves the day once more...

Check out these pics from the Priamrk A/W Look book...here are some of my favourites:

Leopard Print Playsuit £13 Avaitor Jacket £23...loving the furry bag espesh.

Two fabulous coats- Camel Cashmere Coat £45, Cape £25 (I'm a sucker for outerwear)

I also need stuff to wear UNDER these faboosh pieces, so will be on the hunt (probably tomorrow0 for some nice fine knit jumpers in various shades of grey, camel, green and blue. Excited!

That's one of the things I miss about working in fashion retail. By the time I was leaving I had been there for years and knew the shop inside out. Whenever we got our new season stock in it meant I got to window dress and to experiement with different looks of the season. We always got a sneak peak and stock before it went onto the shop floor (and we usually got to put things aside so we got first pick!). Don't miss all the screaming bairns and the mess though...

I shall report back when I have my loot!

Your brogue-wearing friend...as you were,

PS- I feel a haircut is in order also, what is this weather doing to my brains!

Belladrum

Hi friends,

Just back from a fab weekend dancing with The Kennedy Cupcakes at the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Inverness. Not only were we uber excited about the road trip but it was also Cupcake Linzi's bday on the Friday. Much to my delight she brought the jammies I gave her as a gift!

Eva was at the wheel on both the outbound and return journeys and she did a sterling job...3hours both times! Our hotel done the job and we spent the Saturday morning perusing the wares of Inverness town centre before returning to the festival. I muct say, it is nice to be on the production side of the fence...nice smelling, flushing portaloos and an actual bed to sleep in does the job nicely.

Entertainment highlights of the weekend (other than yours truly of course) must be Eliza Doolittle and Candi Staton ('Young Hearts Run Free', 'You got the love'). And of course, Mr Boom my childhood idol. Got home at 3am on Sunday morning and was surprised to see my feline friend Bruce sleeping at night, as he normally has a daft half hour when the moon is high! We let him sleep on the couch so as not to disturb him, bless.

After a long lie and a lazy Sunday it's back to normality with a couple of weeks off Cupcakes gigs but back to full-time hours for me as my work with the PMA commences for the next term. Will be good to bet back into the swing of things, but it has been nice to have the extra few days a week off.

By the way, I'm totally embracing the Autumn already and it's only August! Loving A/W trends so far...think I was born an Autumnal person :)

Busy Busy Bumblebees

Hi friends,

I have been proper busy over the past few weeks and my lovely holiday in Cala Bona is now a distant memory. See fotees for the funtimes.

Cala Bona was lovely, if a little crowded, as usual and the weather was scorching some days and overcast others, but as I am a solarphobe, this suited me nicely. It did however rain on almost Biblical proportions (well, not quite) which forced us to eat in a restaurant for lunch rather than grab a baguette from the Spar and eat it outside. As a result of going to said restaurant, I obtained a rather lovely dose of food poisoning from a flash fried cod and chips...how a restaurant managed to muck up cod and chips I'll never know. This episode only put me out the game for a day or two before I could digest food properly again. It did however take a week for me to feel back to normal again.

Bought some lovely jewellery in Cala Bona, and resisted the urge to buy 'holiday' jewellery which then becomes unwearable at home. Visited the local shop where the sale prices are cerazy cheap due to Euro...got a crackin' necklace for 5 Euros!!! Not before the poor assistant had to untangle it for me from the others. We exchanged several "Oy oy, ces impossible"'s during this feat. Good lass.

Had a lovely Cupcakes dinner the day after I returned home with the lovely Katrina who is now 6 months preggers! Going to be one helluva cute baby, that one! The next 2 days brought fun and games at the Glasgow Show where we were performing. The Fusion, Olly Murs, Darius and THE BEST MJ TRIBUTE I HAVE EVER SEEN James Aston Dancing The Dream...actually amazeballs.

A wee Bank Holiday Monday allowed for Lisa and I to attend our gal pal Michaella Prince's new bridal boutique Love's Philosophy Bridal (Somerset Place, Galsgwow) as I was asked to model some of her gowns. Any soon-to-be-brides out there take note...she offers a bespoke service in the evenings and weekends and her gowns are both beautiful and affordable. Accessories are also stocked. Check out her blog on Blogger.

The Cupcakes have been rehearsing 3 nights this week ahead of our stint at Belladrum Festival tomorrow and Saturday in Inverness. Looking forward to it but not to the drive, I get bored to easy! I feel a marathon session of Stop The Bus coming on.

I am now almost back to work fully as my Arts classes with the PMA start back next week. Have the Menbtal Health Arts and Film Festival coming up with them, and the Soundminds project which has events on Suicide Prevention week also. However, fingers crossed that I get offered a job that's on the cards when my current position closes, need the spends!

Anyways, enjoye perusing my holiday snaps and any other pics I put here. You can follow me on Twitter @emmadunlop. But don't follow me in real life. That's just weird.

Shamone.
